Walnut Cemetery aka Layton Township Cemetery

The first purchase of land for the Walnut Cemetery was made by the Walnut Hill Cemetery Association in January 1876 from Hunry Burchard and wife. Then on March 6, 1886, the Layton Township Trustees purchased from the Walnut Cemetery Association the land in Section 10, Township 77, Range 38, north of the railroad. Later, in January 1904, the Layton Township Trustees purchased from Irad T. Spangler eight more acres.

This cemetery is unique because the highway cuts through it. Section A, 3 and C being on one side of the road and D, E and F are on the other side with a walking bridge over the highway.

You can reach Walnut from Interstate 80.
