The Walnut Catholic Cemetery is located in Section 9 of Layton Township. The first Catholic cemetery was located south of Walnut on land now owned by George Gross. Only a few graves were there when the Catholic Church purchased ten acres at the present site west on Highland Street in Walnut. The graves were then moved to the new cemetery. At present, only three acres of the ten acres are fenced in. The other seven acres are rented out as farm land.
